*** Application Deadline Extended to February 28, 2018***
Fourth grade wasn’t easy for Nia Bronner. Her family had just
moved to a new city where, as Nia describes it, she attended “the absolute
worst” public school. “We didn’t have a principal or a nurse,” Nia recalls.
“The windows were boarded up and the teachers were underqualified. I was
horrified.”
It was a life-changing experience. “My passion for education
reform started the day I walked into my fourth grade classroom,” Nia says. So
did her dream of becoming a lawyer.
As a rising college senior, Nia participated in the Ronald H. Brown Law School Prep
Program for College Students at St. John’s Law, where she’s now
a 3L. An award-winning pipeline initiative of the Ronald H. Brown Center for Civil
Rights, the summer program serves college students from historically
underrepresented groups who want to pursue a career in the law. We offer:
- Prep Program Foundations for rising
sophomores
- Prep Program I for rising juniors
- Prep Program II for rising seniors
Our students learn the fundamentals of legal analysis, writing,
and advocacy in courses taught by St. John’s faculty and
through internships with lawyers and judges in the New York City area.
They also participate in workshops on professionalism and, as
rising seniors, take a comprehensive, customized LSAT prep Course.
To date, over 120 Ron Brown Prep Program alumni have attended
54 law schools across the country, including: Harvard; Yale; BC; Cornell;
Duke; Emory; Georgetown; GW; NYU; Penn; St. John’s; UC Berkeley; UCLA; U-M; and
Vanderbilt.
And over 85% of Prep Program students receive financial
aid, making this summer pre-law experience accessible and affordable.
The Summer 2018 Ron Brown Prep Program application period is now
open and runs through February 28, 2018. We're
making admissions and scholarship decisions on a rolling basis, so apply now!

also available to continue the conversation.
Together, we’ll further the Ron Brown Prep Program’s mission of increasing racial and socioeconomic diversity in law schools and in the legal profession.
