CAS Report Fee Waivers and
Scholarship Opportunities

We know the cost of legal education is something that is at the forefront of all applicants' minds. Case Western Reserve University School of Law offers a free application for those who apply online. This year we are also providing waivers for the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) report fee ($45) charged by the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC). This makes applying to Case Western Reserve totally free for all of your students. For your students to receive a CAS report fee waiver code they need to e-mail lawadmissions@case.edu and mention your name.

Case Western Reserve will automatically consider applicants for a merit-based scholarship. We award some form of scholarship to over 90% of our students. These scholarships are guaranteed for all three years of law school and will not be revoked or reduced as long as a student maintains good academic standing. We also offer travel stipends to admitted students who live a certain distance from our campus to encourage them to visit. They'll have the chance to sit in on a class, talk with current students and meet our faculty.

Discover Law: Free 4-week summer program at the University of Buffalo

University at Buffalo, The State University of New York
A Bridge to Law School
How can we make the legal profession look more like America? That question has been a vexing one for all of us who care about equal justice under the law. One solution: Invite more talented people of color to consider legal education and a legal career – and support them to make that dream a reality.

At the University at Buffalo School of Law, Discover Law is doing just that. This award-winning intensive summer program, now in its seventh year, has given dozens of bright young scholars a taste of law school life and opened their imaginations to careers in the law. For these promising future lawyers, the experience is already paying off.
The Program
Discover Law provides up to 20 promising underrepresented minority students the opportunity to live on the University at Buffalo’s North Campus for an intensive four-week summer residency. Students take rigorous courses taught by law professors, attend field trips to see the law in action, learn about the admissions process, and shadow a judge or attorney for a day. Throughout the four weeks, students build and refine skill-sets such as:
  • Critical thinking, close reading and legal analysis
  • Enhanced writing and oral advocacy skills
  • Practical strategies for doing well on the LSAT
  • Successfully navigating the law school admissions process
In addition, students are given a broad vision of the value of a legal education, the importance of the legal profession and the breadth of career opportunities it offers, and the vital contributions they can make to society through the practice of law.

Always a collaboration of partners, Discover Law  has been heavily supported by the University at Buffalo's Office of the Provost, the University at Buffalo Office's of Inclusive Excellence, UB School of Law alumni, Western New York law firms, the Minority Bar Foundation, the Minority Bar Association, and other benefactors. Throughout the four-week residency, we draw upon these generous partners to help match Discover Law Scholars with volunteer mentors from the local legal community. Mentorships continue long after the program is over, providing crucial support and encouragement for Discover Law Scholars as they prepare for law school.

"Thanks to Discover Law, I, and other members of my cohort, feel more prepared for law school than we were before. Personally, I know the program has strengthened my networking, critical thinking, reading, writing, and speaking skills."
– Jeremie Gashindi, 2018 Hodgson Russ Discover Law Scholar

St. John's Law Weekend LSAT Bootcamp; open to college seniors; deadline to apply is 1/10

Do you know anyone who has always dreamed of going to law school but never had the support or resources?  Maybe a former student or a paralegal at your firm?  Maybe you?

Thanks to a generous grant from AccessLex Institute, the Ronald H. Brown Law School Prep Program at St. John’s Law proudly announces a new program dedicated to helping adult learners achieve their dreams: the new Weekend LSAT Boot Camp.  This freeprogram aims to serve working professionals, recent college graduates, and college seniors in the New York City area from historically underrepresented groups who want to pursue a career in the law.

Participants will take a comprehensive, customized LSAT prep course and have workshops on the law school admissions process, essays, professionalism, networking, time management, and workplace diversity. There will also be one-on-one mentoring and professional admissions advising and mental and emotional health counseling.

The program takes place at St. John’s Law in Queens (8000 Utopia Parkway, Queens, NY 11439).  It begins in late March 2020 and culminates in October 2020 with an event where participants meet one on one with admissions officers from law schools across the country.

See our 2020 brochure for more details!

To date, over 300 Ron Brown Prep Program alumni have attended more than 50 top law schools across the country, including: Harvard; Yale; Boston College; Columbia; Cornell; Fordham; Emory; Georgetown; Howard; NYU; St. John’s; UC Berkeley; UCLA; U of Michigan; and Vanderbilt.

The Weekend 2020 application period opens on December 2, 2019 and closes on Janaury 10th, 2020. In the meantime, we invite you to learn more about us by visiting our websiteTwitter, and Instagram. If you have questions, please contact us at stjlawschool11@gmail.com or at 718-990-6653.

Together, we’ll further the Ron Brown Prep Program’s mission of increasing racial and socioeconomic diversity in law schools and in the legal profession.  The world is diverse.  The law should be too.
