1.  FINANCIAL SUPPORT.  The CSI Student Government will reimburse expenses for graduate school (including LSAT prep and law school application costs), up to $750/  If you paid for a prep class and you have receipts, you can submit through this link for reimbursement. The Legal Studies Institute will reimburse costs up to an additional $100.​ Please contact me with any questions:  Michael.Paris@csi.cuny.edu

The Graduate Assistance Fund is now open until May 12, 2022. https://csi.campuslabs.com/engage/submitter/form/step/1?Guid=14472ecf-e0b7-4d91-b39d-e5644cf8192f. If this link does not work, students have to login to CSI Campus Labs with their SLAS. There is a section called "forms" and there they could fill it out. Note, that they have to be logged in to see the form. Hope this helps!

The Richmond County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project Summer 2022 Justice Louis Sangiorgio Supreme Court Law Intern Program The Richmond County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) is now accepting applications for its law intern program. The program will be supervised by Administrative Judge of Richmond County, Desmond Green. The Richmond County Bar Association VLP will select law students to participate in a six-week program, which will immerse them in the day-to-day business of the judicial system. Applicants must be either in their first or second year of law school. Participating students will work with Supreme Court Justices and Principal Law Clerks in the research and resolution of real-life disputes that have come before the court. Participants will also work with the Managing Attorney for the VLP in assisting with active files of clients being represented by the VLP. Participants will observe jury trials, jury selection, litigant conferences with the court and attend instructional presentations and seminars conducted by practicing attorneys. Stipends may be available to the student interns through the Richmond County Bar Association VLP in an amount to be determined. The six-week program runs from Monday, June 13, 2022 through Friday, July 22, 2022. 

Applications must be received by Friday April 29, 2022. 

Applicants are encouraged to apply early. Justice Louis Sangiorgio was the Supervising Judge of the Richmond County Supreme Court from 1987 to 2002. In addition to his many duties Justice Sangiorgio and his staff helped in establishing the legal intern program. In recognition of Justice Sangiorgio’s mentoring of students, lawyers and of the judges in his court the Richmond County Bar Association named this program in his honor, after his death on October 20, 2002.

We’re pleased to let you know that registration is still open for CLEO’s ASAP (Achieving Success in the Application Process) program, an intensive two-day summer workshop that helps candidates become successful law school applicants. We hope you will share this news with your students and please let them know the application deadline is May 2

 

The summer 2022 program is designed for college juniors, seniors and post-graduates who intend to apply for law school in 2022 or 2023. Here’s just a sampling of what your students can expect: 

  • Opportunities to meet and speak with senior law school admission staff, practicing attorneys, and law students. 
  • Answers from law school admission staff regarding application process questions.
  • Expert guidance about personal statements, addendums, and resumes from senior law school admission staff.
