This is a comprehensive conference for students, recent college graduates and anyone interested in pursuing a law degree. The Committee on Diversity Pipeline Initiatives and the Office for Diversity and Inclusion partner with local and national law schools, test prep companies, and pipeline programs to offer attendees a robust overview on preparing for and succeeding in law school. This conference has historically served approximately 275-500 attendees. This year, the program will be held virtually over one and half days. Day one, Wednesday, January 13, 2021, will focus on New York City law schools that offer part-time/evening programs. Day two, Thursday, January 14, 2021 will include panel presentations and a virtual exhibit hall.

NYPIRG Public Policy Internships; Announcement; Application

For nearly forty years, the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) has offered unique internship programs that provide college students with experiential learning and civic engagement opportunities. Amid the pandemic, NYPIRG remains as committed as ever to providing students with exceptional experiences that augment their classroom education by offering a NYPIRG Public Policy Internship.

The Public Policy Internship provides highly motivated students of all majors the opportunity to thoroughly study a particular public policy issue by pairing them with an experienced public policy mentor.  Program interns will gain an intimate understanding of legislative processes and practical experiences in such areas as public speaking, writing, research and dealing with the media—excellent additional preparation for graduate studies and the job market.

Public Policy interns research, track and promote legislation in such diverse areas of public policy as consumer protection, public campaign finance, higher education, health care, political reform and environmental preservation, network with student leaders, and organize policy briefings with legislators.

Interns will commit to 16 hours per week, receive a stipend, and work remotely. Interns will be responsible  for securing course credit for the program. The program begins in early January of 2021 and continues until the end of the academic semester. Please submit your application by the deadline, Monday, December 21st. Please send any questions to civicinternship@nypirg.org. OR

Free Winter Break Pre-Law Program from U.C. Davis

The application for the 2021 Winter Session of the King Hall Outreach Program is open, and the deadline is Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

The King Hall Outreach Program (KHOP) is a no-cost pre-law program consisting of four Saturday workshops to prepare college students and recent graduates from underrepresented communities to excel in the law school application process. Students and recent graduates of all accredited four-year schools who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply.

Over 41 percent of KHOP alumni have graduated from, or enrolled in, ABA accredited law schools including UC Davis, UC Berkeley, the University of Michigan, UCLA, UC Hastings, Northwestern University, the University of Wisconsin, Boston University, and many others.

In 2016, KHOP received the American Bar Association Raymond Pace and Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander Award For Excellence in Pipeline Diversity for its important role in cultivating racial and ethnic diversity in legal education.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 King Hall Outreach Program Winter Session will take place exclusively on Zoom. In the past, this program has been available only to students who can attend in person at UC Davis, but this year, students can participate from anywhere. The dates of the 2021 KHOP Winter Session are: January 16, January 23, February 6, and February 13 (and we will also meet 2-3 times during the week at a time TBD).
