CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies Opportunity for Funded Support for Students

Please contact me if you are interested in being nominated:  Deadline is November 18th.  MP, Michael.Paris@csi.cuny.edu

Nominate a Student for the
Community Semester Program at CUNY SLU
Dear CUNY Faculty Member:

I am writing to you today about an exciting opportunity at the School of Labor and Urban Studies (SLU), the newest school within CUNY. The Community Semester Program at SLU offers undergraduate or graduate students a semester-long experience of combined full-time study and 28-hour internship, supported by a $7,000 stipend. It is my pleasure to invite you to nominate one or more students to join the dozens of CUNY students who have participated in our Community Semester Program.

Community Semester provides students with the opportunity to work in a New York City community-based organization or agency as they complete SLU’s undergraduate or graduate-level Certificate in Community Leadership on ePermit during a single semester, while maintaining enrollment at your institution. The academic credits earned for this four-course certificate apply toward the student’s program at your college, and the internship placement provides access to an academic and professional network that facilitates future employment, for many at the internship site.

If you have a student leader in mind whom you believe would benefit from this unique opportunity, please complete the Community Semester recommendation form and send it to CommunitySemester@slu.cuny.edu, Attn: Crystal Joseph, Program Coordinator. Nominated students will be informed by email and invited to apply.

For more information about Community Semester, please see the flyer below and visit the SLU website.

We ask that you submit student nominations for the Spring 2020 Community Semester Program by Monday, November 18, 2019. Please free to contact us with any questions.

Sincerely,

Steve Greenfeld
